Wheel of the Year

The Wheel turns through four hinges — two solstices and two equinoxes — each binding the practitioner to a sacred practice from the Codex. The form is annual; the answer is the practitioner's.

March

  • Spring Equinox: Day and night in balance, tipping toward light. The Wheel turns to Teaching — what was learned in the dark is now passed forward.

June

  • Summer Solstice: The longest day. The Wheel turns to Renewal — the gear long kept is opened again, refreshed, and re-committed.

September

  • Autumn Equinox: Day and night in balance, tipping toward dark. The Wheel turns to Vigil — what has been lost is named so it is not entirely gone.

December

  • Winter Solstice: The longest night. The Wheel turns to Inventory — every kept device is named, considered, and judged whether it still serves.
